Run Flat Tyres - Brief Introduction

The basic idea of a run-flat tyre is to have you reach your destination or for a limited distance even when your tyres are flat. How?

There are 2 types of run-flat tyres.
  • Re-Inforced Side-Wall Tyres
    - Tyres where the sidewalls are much stronger and re-inforced that a normal tyre.

  • Support-Ring System Tyres
    - Tyres with a strong ring made out of hardened plastic or metal placed around the rim or within the tyre.

► Which Run-Flat is the best?
- The tyre manufacturer will be suggesting which kind of run-flat is best for your car.
► Benefits of Run-Flat tyres?
- You don’t have to change your tire in dangerous or uncomfortable conditions. This is perhaps the biggest benefit of run flat tires and is the one of the reasons why they were designed. With conventional tires, you have to replace a flat on the spot or have your car towed.
- In a puncture situation, run flats are more stable than conventional tires. Since they’re made to support your vehicle even when they contain no air, run flat tires will help you maintain better control in a complete air loss situation than conventional tires.
